The capital city of Qatar is Doha. It is the home to a variety of cultural attractions. Islamic Art is one of the most popular tourist attractions located along the Corniche promenade on Doha Bay. This museum features collections ranging from Medival Period to modern times. Thursdays and Saturdays can get free guided tour for the visitors.

Doha was well known as an offshoot of Al Bidda in the 1820s. After Independence in 1971 Doha became capital to Qatar. It is know as the commercial center of the country in emerging financial hub in the Middle East. The Globalization and World Cities Research Network announced Doha as the world city. Area was dedicated for the education and research in Doha.

Qatar national library

National library is a non-profit organization for the students in Qatar. It is considered under the Qatar foundation for education, science and community development. The library has a vast collection of books on all kinds of topics. It is constructed to serve the community by fostering reading, learning, and for research. It contains of three main sections, the university library, the public library and the heritage library.

Qatar national museum

Qatar national museum is available in Qatar capital Doha. Modern museum that encapsulates the ancient history of the country. This Museum spans over 430,500 square feet designed by Pritzker Prize winner Jean Nouvel. Nouvel inspired from the country’s desert landscape. Architectural structure created by wind and sea spray which are naturally occurred through the design of echoes.

Museum has 4 floors. Each floor shows the history of the Qatar. It is a permanent exhibition. This Museum includes Qatar’s geological story which belongs to 700 million years ago. It is an anthropological and paleontological heritage. The museum also shows the Qatar’s heritage library, contains more than 21,000 books, including first and rare editions.

Qatar Purple Island

Purple Island is located on the Al Khor which northeast coast of Qatar. It is a popularly destined for kayaking and a natural setting surrounded by lush greenery. People can enjoy long walks in this island as well as they enjoy family picnics. It is also well known for variety of activities and water sports.

Mangroves are one type of plants that grow in saltwater are in Purple Island. Mangroves can provide shelter and food to a variety of creatures. It takes important role in climate change mitigation.
