The popular director George Miller was an Australian filmmaker. He was well known for his film Mad Max film series. The 2nd part of the Mad Max franchise, Mad Max 2, has been hailed as one of the greatest action films of all time. The 4th part, Fury Road, has also been hailed as one of the greatest action films of all time. The Fury Road movie won the 6 Academy Awards.

Miller was born in 3rd March, in the year of 1945 in Chinchilla town, Queensland State, in the country of Australia. He had born to the Greek immigrant parents. His parents are Dimitri Castrisios Miliotis (father) and Angela Balson (mother).

George Miller father was born on the Greek island of the Kythira.  When he was immigrated to Australia, he changed surname from Miller to Miliotis.

Angela’s family was Greek refugees from the Anatolia. They were displaced by the 1923 population exchange. After that they are married and settled in the Chinchilla. They had 4 sons’ fraternal twins George, John, Chris and Bill.

When Director George Miller was in his final year at the medical school in the year 1971 George and his younger brother Chris had made St. Vincent’s Revenue Film. This one-minute short film was won the 1st prize in the student competition.

On that time Miller had attended the film workshop at the Melbourne University there he had met the fellow student Byron Kennedy. Then he had formed a lasting friendship and the production partnership.

Miller was completed his residency at the Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital. In this time, he had spent his time off crewing on the short experimental films. Miller and the Kennedy founded the Kennedy Miller Productions at that same year.

Miller was married the actress Sandy Gore in the year of 1985 and divorced in the year of 1992. They had a daughter also. Later he had married to the film editor Margaret Sixel since 1995 they had 2 sons.

The Sixel had worked on all of the Miller’s directorial efforts in some of the capacity. George Miller was the Patron of the Australian Film Institute. Miller was Co-patron of the BIFF (Brisbane International Film Festival) & Sydney Film Festival.

George Miller had said that the 1940 version of Pinocchio was one of his favorite films on multiple occasions.

Miller had co-founded the production houses Kennedy Miller Mitchell. He was also formerly known as the Kennedy Miller and the Dr. D. Studios.

George Miller had a younger brother named Bill Miller. Doug Mitchell also worked as a producer. Together, George Miller, Bill Miller and Doug Mitchell were the producers on almost all of George Miller’s later films. This partnership began after the death of George Miller’s original producing partner, Byron Kennedy.

Miller had also co-write the comedy-drama Babe in 1995. He directed the sequel “Babe: Pig in the City” in 1998. Miller had created the “Happy Feet” movie. It was a musical epic about the life of penguins in Antarctica.

Miller won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for “Happy Feet” movie in the year of 2006. He had also nominated for the 5 other Academy Awards.

In 1992, “Lorenzo’s Oil” won the award for Best Original Screenplay. In 1995, the film “Babe” won the awards for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2015, “Fury Road” won the awards for Best Picture and Best Director.

George Miller had been diverse in genre and style as a director. He directed the biographical medical drama “Lorenzo’s Oil.” He also directed the dark fantasy film “The Witches of Eastwick.”

Miller directed the Academy Award-winning animated film “Happy Feet.” He produced the family-friendly fantasy adventure film “Babe.” He directed the sequel “Babe: Pig in the City.”
