Professional director Prashanth Neel details

Director Prashanth Neel full name was Prashanth Neelakantapuram. He was an Indian film director and also a screenwriter. He primarily worked in the Kannada film industry in India.

Prashanth Neel made his debut with the Kannada film “Ugramm” in 2014. He later directed the two-part film series “K.G.F Chapter 1” in 2018 and “K.G.F Chapter 2” in 2022. The latter was the highest grossing Kannada film.

Prasanth Neel was born in 4th June 1980 in the Telugu family, Karnataka State, India. His father’s name was Subhash. His mother’s name was Bharathi. Their family was from Neelakantapuram Village, Near Madakasira Town, Andhra Pradesh State, India. They are settled in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

Prashanth Neel got married in the year 2010. They had a daughter and a son. His sister was married to the Kannada actor Sriimurali. Sriimurali starred in Neel’s directorial debut movie, “Ugramm.”

Prashanth Neel was a cousin of Telugu film actor Aadarsh Balakrishna. He was also related to the former Andhra Pradesh state minister Raghu Veera Reddy. Prashanth Neel stated in an interview with a Kannada weekly magazine that he initially pursued filmmaking for financial need.

After that, Prashanth Neel was completed filmmaking course and was eventually developing interest in it. He had decided to the cast his brother-in-law and the actor Srimurali in “Aa Hudugi Neene” as a screenplay. It was written during the time after having the completed course.

Prashanth Neel initially expressed concerns about his inexperience. He changed his mind and started observing Sriimurali’s mannerisms. Over time, he came up with the project “Ugramm” an action film.

The film was a massive commercial success. It emerged as one of the highest grossing films of 2014. In late 2014 and early 2015, reports emerged that Prashanth Neel had been signed to direct 3 films.

The first sequel to “Ugramm” was titled “Ugramm Veeram.” Sriimurali reprised his role from “Ugramm” in this film. Neel’s next film was “KGF,” which stands for Kolar Gold Fields. It was presented by hero “Yash” in the role of Rocky.

Initially, the release date for the sequel to the movie, “KGF: Chapter 2” was set for 16th July 2021. However, due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, the release was postponed.

The movie was eventually released on 14th April 2022 in the Kannada language. It was also dubbed in several Indian languages like Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam for wider distribution.

“KGF: Chapter 2” is a 2022 Indian action film directed by director Prashanth Neel.

“KGF: Chapter 2” was produced by producer “Vijay Kiragandur”. It was the sequel to “KGF: Chapter 1”.

After this film K.G.F: Chapter 2, Prashanth Neel was nominated for the 62nd Film Fare Award South for Best Director in Kannada. He was also nominated for the 4th South Indian International Movie Award for Best Debutant Director in Kannada.

For the movie “Ugramm,” Prashanth Neel won the 8th South Indian International Movie Award for Best Director in Kannada.

Prashanth Neel was nominated for the 66th Film Fare Award South for Best Director in Kannada. He won the Zee Kannada “Hemmeya Kannadiga Award” 2019 as Best Director for the movie “K.G.F: Chapter 1.”

In 2018, Prashanth Neel directed the movie “K.G.F.: Chapter 1”, which was written in Kannada language. In 2022, he directed its sequel “K.G.F.: Chapter 2”. It was majorly written in the Kannada language. Neel also directed “Bagheera”, a Kannada language film.

In 2023, Prashanth Neel was directed “Salaar” which was written in Indian language Telugu.
